I'm a little torn tbh Alf.

On the one hand, in circumstances of terminal illness then I can see a place for euthanasia to help end suffering.

However, the news has recently reported a case of a mother "mercy killing" her 12 year old retarded daughter. How does the mother know whether the 12 year old did indeed want to die?

Maybe the answer is to have some sort of system to apply for the right to exercise euthanasia?

I am in favour if someone is terminally ill and in pain. I don't know the story of mother who killed her 12 year old so can't really comment, there might have been extenuating circumstances in her case.

An adult gets to make that choice, but a retarded child doesn't.
