Labour 'wanted social change', according to the new document
Labour encouraged mass immigration even though it knew that voters opposed it, Whitehall documents confirmed yesterday.
The Government said the public disagreed with immigration because of 'racism' and ministers were told to try to alter public attitudes.
The thinking on immigration among Labour leaders was set down in 2000 in a document prepared for the Cabinet Office and the Home Office, but the key passages were suppressed before it was published.
The paper was finally disclosed under freedom of information rules yesterday. It showed that ministers were advised that only the ill-educated and those who had never met a migrant were opposed to immigration.
They were also told that large-scale immigration would bring increases in crime, but they concealed these concerns from the public.
Sections of the paper, which underpinned Labour policies that admitted between two and three million immigrants to Britain in less than a decade, have already been made public.
These have showed that Labour aimed to use immigration not only for economic reasons but also to change the social make-up of the country.
Fuller details released yesterday showed that Tony Blair's ministers opened the doors to mass migration in knowledge of public opposition and with the view that those who disagreed with them were racists.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling has criticised the Government for not telling the truth about their immigration policies
Labour's accusation that opponents of immigration are racist has been dropped over the last two years as it has become clear that former Labour voters in party heartlands have been turning to the far right British National Party.
Ministers accept there is frustration at the loss of jobs to migrants and pressure on public services.
Yesterday Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling said: 'The Government has simply not been telling the truth about its policies on immigration.
IMMIGRATION CONTROLS RELAX
New controls on immigration are to be relaxed to allow companies to bring in the workers they want.
Trade Minister Mervyn Davies said yesterday that Labour's points-based system, aimed at allowing only the highest skilled workers into Britain, had had 'teething problems'.
He promised a 'slightly differently tailored system' for employees brought into the country by multinational companies.
The points-based system, introduced last year, was designed to ease concern over the impact of mass immigration of low-skilled and low-paid workers, particularly in traditional Labour-voting areas.
Success for the scheme is central to Labour's pledge that the population will not be allowed to reach 70million.
'More and more evidence is now emerging to show that they deliberately planned a big jump in immigration for their own political purposes.

'Now they are trying to rewrite history to pretend those decisions never happened. Their conduct over all of this has been a complete disgrace.'
Sir Andrew Green of the Migrationwatch pressure group said: 'This report confirms that ministers deliberately rode roughshod over public opinion in adopting a policy of mass immigration.
'They concealed their real intentions in the hope that they would benefit from the immigrant vote without losing their working class supporters. They are now paying the price.'
But Border and Immigration Minister Phil Woolas said: 'This report confirms there was no open door policy on migration.

'It makes quite clear that migration is not a substitute for Government policies on skills, education and training of British citizens, which the Government has invested in over the past decade.'
David Cameron promised yesterday to limit immigration to tens of thousands a year, a level last seen in the 1990s.

racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist...does saying that word over and over make one a racist?

Using that overworked, overused word Racist" in every other sentence does not a racist make. The PC wallers have tried so hard and for so long to try and make people feel guilty, to feel "racist" if they ever dared to mentioned Immigration.

Almost 3 million in ten years!! 3 million more Immigrants using the NHS, Schools, housing.... worst of all..........BENEFITS for the majority of them!! For all of you who get up every morning go and work the whole day, come home knackered and know you have to do the same thing the next day and the next. Do you ever get angry that these Immigrants can stay in bed all day, they can go shopping with your hard earned money, they have plasma TVs that YOU have paid for, but can't afford for your own home. Does it piss you off? If you say a word about all this, YOU are classed as a racist!

If it makes me a racist to be so pissed off by mass Immigration, you have my permission to call me a racist, it means absolutely nothing anymore. affraid

Yet, this same bunch of treasonous hypocrites have the brass neck to call the BNP and anyone who supports the BNP "racist".

Let us not forget that the Tories and Lib Dems are complicit in this too.

The only political party who have spoken the truth all along are the BNP. No wonder the Lib/Lab/Con lot are trying their damnedest to get rid of the BNP by fair means our foul.

Still, it's all coming out of the woodwork now and people can see for themselves that there is only one party worth voting for.

- Edwin, Australia, 22/2/2010

Turning a blind eye?? Many people have tried to put their opinion across only to be branded racist. The only party out there that can and will put a stop to immigration is the BNP and they are branded racist for trying to do what the majority of the people want.
Lets hope that now the BNP cannot be labeled racist, more people will actually take the time to read their policy on immigration along with all the other plans they have to get this country back on track.
Suffice to say, they will lose votes from the working class and I also think they will lose votes from people on benefit with genuine need for support.
To vote Labour now will be poison for the UK.

When have ZanuLiebour EVER taken note of "public opinion and the tone of public debate" ? They simply ride roughshod over what the public thinks and then accuse us of being racist, sexist, elitist and every other "-ist" in the repertoire.

What I want to know is why David Cameron, William Hague, Ken Clarke et al are not going on the offensive and lambasting this shambolic government for its abysmal record, shoddy practices and loony fring cabinet ministers. WHY ON EARTH NOT - WHAT ELSE MUST THE PUBLIC SUFFER BEFORE THEY REACT????!!!!!!!!

Perhaps now Joe Public will STOP watching puerile rubbish on the TV and take great heed what Gormless Brown, Alan Johnson and Jack Straw are all about.

My heart bleeds for those honest peeps who cannot obtain a suitable council property to house their family with dignity - whilst they watch immigrants flooding into the UK and living the life of Riley in grotesque mansions, all at taxpayer's expense.

The people in Government don't care about the British public. They spend our money on what THEY see fit, more 2nd and 3rd homes, holiday jollies, welcoming more immigrants when there is massive unemployment and a recession and the do as I say not as I do mentality. Then they have the cheek to tell us to take out private pensions as our tax wont help us in our old age, well I'm not paying in to a private pension so some one else can rip me off.

There really is not anything else to say about this government! They have been totally immoral in how they have pushed policies through without a thought for the consequences. It is they who are racist, not the people. How in gods name can any country sustain the immgration numbers this country has had to accept over the last ten years? You listen to countless British people born and bred here, that can not get houses. And do you honestly think that is going to push everyone together in the name of a multi-cultural society.
The fact that the people who were responsible are still in governemnt and others who have left are making millions from their treachery says it all really. There are no decent men or women in politics anymore. Just liars and cheats every one of them.

I thought the Government was elected by the people to work for the people in the best interests of the people! Obviously I am wrong. I remember how happy I felt when Tony Blair's Government came to power, and my friend who was a staunch Labour Party supporter crying with happiness that a Labour Government was in power. After years of Blair's decimation I looked forward to Gordon Brown taking his place and becoming the leader he showed signs of becoming!!!!!!!!! What a fool I was, but no longer. I would rather vote for any other party than a Labour one. If Labour gets back in then God help us all.

"A previously unseen joint Cabinet Office and Home Office report called for increases in foreign workers to meet the Government's 'economic and social objectives'. But it also stated that the public would be opposed to the shift because of 'racism'. "

This shows yet again that they (the Newlabour Misgovernment) are mad - as well as being the self-admitted enemies of the people. They are supposed to represent and work on the orders of the British people. Not do on the sly what they think the people will oppose.

I have no problem with immigrants who are willing to PAY TAXES, work legally, rent legally etc. What I do not agree with is the government giving out MY paid taxes as benefit handouts. I'm sorry but if you're not in posession of a British Passport, you are not entitled to any sort of support from our government no matter where you're from. And I don't agree with the government paying illegal immigrants to 'go home'. What a load of pish our country has become. It's embarrassing. I'm not surprised people are voting UKIP/BNP.

I'm no lawyer, but I understood that any any actions designed to bring down the nation and it's sovereignty has committed a treasonable act. Am I wrong? Blair, Brown and everyone party to this should be tried for treason as their actions have handed over sovereignty to foreign powers, and filled up the country with immigrants for their own purposes. I always thought that the British Govenment existed to represent and protect the wishes and needs of the British people. Obviously I was wrong and now realise that it exists to represent and protect the wishes and needs of the Labour party.

In my view (as a humble cannon fodder taxpayer) what the Labour Govenment has done in regard to immigration is nothing short of criminal and has affected badly the lifes of hundreds of thousands if not millions of British people in one way or another.

If anyone of any influence in the Labour party happens to read this I want to send a personal messsge to you that I hope your lying tawdry grubby party is ground into the dust in the forthcoming General Election never to resurface again.

The 'work-driven migration' section is unbelievably stupid. It beggars belief that this was actual Government policy. The most significant demographic shift in the history of our nation is supposedly driven by 'market forces' despite all the growth being in Asia, Brazil or Russia and our low-skilled labour-intensive industries disappearing at an unprecedented rate. We're probably losing tens of billions a year due to the cost of benefits, housing, crime, schooling, health care and countless other provisions for millions of people whose sole reason for being here is to vote Labour. Wonderful.

I find it amusing how they consider anyone with an opposition to immigration as having those oppositions based on racism, when in 90% of the time this will be completely untrue.
There were genuine concerns amongst the public over the problems such mass immigration would bring, and now a few years on a lot of these concerns are proving to be real issues afffecting peoples lives.

Totally agree with Greytide & Rolf Kitchinger.

The Labour Party seems to ignore the increasing pressure from incoming migration (legal or illegal) on public services such as the NHS, schools, housing & roads. I'd like to see figures that show clearly & categorically that the extra taxes paid by migrant workers are ploughed back into the extra public services they & their families use. If that figure is in positive balance then I'll be delighted to eat humble pie.

I think the BNP should open its doors to all ethnics. Many are decent hard working people who have been in the UK for a few generations, they also hate what is happening in the UK. I think the BNP would be more accepted if they weren't seen as white supremacist and racist organization.

The secret plot to destroy Britain’s identity
Daily Mail, 24 February 2010

Of all the issues of concern to the public, immigration is possibly the most explosive — and the one about which the most lies are continuing to be told.

During the period that Labour has been in office, mass immigration has simply changed the face of Britain. The total number of immigrants since 1997 is pushing three million.Ministers claim that immigration policy has been driven principally to help the economy. They have always denied that they actually set out deliberately to change the ethnic composition of the country.

Well, now we know for a certainty that this is not true. The Government embarked on a policy of mass immigration to change Britain into a multicultural society — and they kept this momentous aim secret from the people whose votes they sought.

Worse still, they did this knowing that it ran directly counter to the wishes of those voters, whose concerns about immigration they dismissed as racist; and they further concealed official warnings that large-scale immigration would bring about significant increases in crime.

The truth about this scandal was first blurted out last October by Andrew Neather, a former Labour Party speechwriter.

He wrote that until the new points-based system limiting foreign workers was introduced in 2008 — in response to increasing public uproar — government policy for the previous eight years had been aimed at promoting mass immigration.

The ‘driving political purpose’ of this policy, wrote Neather, was ‘to make the UK truly multicultural’ — and one subsidiary motivation was ‘to rub the Right’s nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date’.
Misters, however, went to great lengths to keep their real intentions secret from the public — with, said Neather, a ‘paranoia’ that these would reach the media — since they knew their core white working-class voters would react very badly.

Accordingly, a report about immigration by a government advisory unit, which formed the core of a landmark speech in 2000 announcing the loosening of border controls, went through several drafts before it was finally published — and the Government’s true intentions about changing Britain into a multicultural society were removed from the final version.

After revealing all this, Neather subsequently tried to backtrack, saying that his views had been twisted out of all recognition by the media. They hadn’t been.

Nevertheless, Jack Straw, who was Home Secretary at the time the immigration policy was changed, said he had read press reports of Neather’s remarks with incredulity since they were ‘the reverse of the truth’.

Now we know, however, that they were indeed the truth. We know this only because details of the advisory unit’s report which were excised from the final published version — just as Neather said — have been emerging into the public domain through Freedom of Information requests.

The pressure group MigrationWatch obtained an early draft which revealed that the Government’s intention was to encourage mass immigration for ’social objectives’ — in other words, to produce a more ethnically diverse society — but that on no fewer than six occasions this phrase was excised from the final version, published some three months later.

Now we further discover, from what was removed from seemingly another early draft, that the aim was not just to implement this policy of mass immigration without the knowledge or consent of the British people.

It was done in the full knowledge that the people actually wanted immigration reduced.

And we also discover that those who expressed such concerns were dismissed with utter contempt as racists — and it was further suggested that ministers should manipulate public opinion in an attempt to change people’s attitudes.

Well, they have certainly tried to do that by hanging the disgusting label of ‘racism’ round the neck of anyone who dares voice such concerns.

Thus the eminent and decent Labour MP Frank Field found himself smeared as a racist for daring to suggest that the rate of immigration should be reduced.

What bullying arrogance. The real prejudice is surely to believe that opposition to mass migration can never be based on any reasonable objection.

The implications of this covert policy are quite staggering. Ministers deliberately set out to change the cultural and ethnic identity of this country in secret.

They did this mainly because they hated what Britain was, a largely homogeneous society rooted in 1,000 years of history. They therefore set out to replace it by a totally new kind of multicultural society — and one in which the vast majority of newcomers could be expected to vote Labour.

They set out to destroy the right of the British people to live in a society defined by a common history, religion, law, language and traditions. They set out to destroy for ever what it means to be culturally British and to put another ‘multicultural’ identity in its place.

And they then had the gall to declare that to have love for or pride in that authentic British identity, and to want to protect and uphold it, was racist.

So the very deepest feelings of people for their country were damned as bigotry, for which crime they were to have their noses rubbed in mass immigration until they changed their attitudes.

What an appalling abuse of power. Yet even now they are denying that this is what they did. Yesterday, the Immigration Minister Phil Woolas blustered that the advisory unit report had not been accepted by ministers at the time.

But the fact is that mass immigration actually happened. The only thing ministers hadn’t accepted was that the truth about their intentions should be revealed to the public.

Surreally, Mr Woolas further claims that the Government has brought immigration down.

But the reductions he is talking about have taken place on the separate issue of asylum. The impact of the Government’s new points scheme upon the record rate of immigration growth has been negligible.

The truth is that these early drafts of the advisory unit’s report have blown open one of the greatest political scandals of the Labour years. At no stage did Labour’s election manifestos make any reference to a policy of mass immigration nor the party’s aim of creating a multicultural society.

What we have been subjected to is a deliberate deception of the voters and a gross abuse of democracy.

There could scarcely be a more profound abuse of the democratic process than to set out to destroy a nation’s demographic and cultural identity through a conscious deception of the people of that nation. It is an act of collective national treachery.

Now we face imminently another General Election. And now we know that in their hearts, Labour politicians hold the great mass of the public, many of them their own voters, in total contempt as racist bigots — all for wanting to live in a country whose identity they share.

There could hardly be a more worthy issue for the Conservative Party to leap upon. Yet their response is muted through their own visceral terror of appearing racist.

The resulting despair over the refusal of the mainstream parties to address this issue threatens to drive many into the arms of the truly racist British National Party.

If that happens, the fault will lie not just with Labour’s ideological malice and mendacity, but with the spinelessness of an entire political class.

I am surprised there are so few comments on this thread, is it because people fear being called racist? The Government have done a pretty good job of brainwashing the UK population, the PC brigade have done a sterling job, its probably the only successful thing they have ever done in their lives.

To discuss matters that concern your way of life, is not racist. I would call discussing open door Immigration as realist, never racist. How can it be racist when many Immigrants are white and from Eastern Europe?

Nu LieBore have opened the flood gates to let in murders, rapist, paedophiles etc., in fact the scum of the earth now resides in the UK. The majority come to the UK to live the life of Larry, free house, free money, free health care, free education etc. Who pays for all this? How much higher will taxes have to be raised to keep on paying for these Immigrants to live off you? It's time to talk, it's time to know you are not racist for asking the questions that must be on your mind daily. It is not racist to care about your heritage and how it being eroded daily.

Discuss.

How much higher will taxes have to be raised to keep on paying for these Immigrants to live off you? It's time to talk, it's time to know you are not racist for asking the questions that must be on your mind daily. It is not racist to care about your heritage and how it being eroded daily.

Discuss.

Earth, i totally agree.

I think a lot of people at first wernt interested as it didn't affect there daily lives,

but as people see more and more areas that they come into contact with that are affected, the blinkers start to come off.

Labour kept a lid on it for a very long time, with smears of racism or little englander.

But they cant hide it anymore.

It seems the british public are sick of politicians and so called politics from the main parties, you only have to look at the conservatives 3% majority over labour.

How the hell can that be after what labour have done to this country, drives me insane.

Labour are probably glad people are going to the BNP and ukip,

as it means they arent voting for the conservatives, and labour will get another term.
