You just couldn't make it up!!!!

AN ex-Royal Marine war hero was told to cover up his commando dagger tattoo at Heathrow Airport - because it was deemed OFFENSIVE.

A woman security worker challenged Paul Fairclough when she saw the 12-inch design on his arm after he took off his jacket for checks.

Proud former medic Paul, 29, who served in Iraq and Kosovo, said: "I explained it was my old regiment's insignia.

"She said it made no difference. They had a policy that tattoos of offensive weapons must not be on show."

The dad of one, of Tranmere, Wirral, said: "I felt insulted and angry."

He complained to a supervisor at the London airport, who said gang tattoos must be covered but military insignia is fine. Oil rig safety officer Paul had flown from Toronto and was at Terminal 5 to catch a plane to Manchester.

A British Airports Authority spokesman apologised and said: "We have no tattoos policy."

Cameron, Fury at Labour MP's Jibe to Top Brass

Post  EarthsAngel on Sun Mar 28, 2010 10:07 am

FURY erupted in the Commons yesterday as Labour MPs attacked military heroes for criticising the PM.

Angry David Cameron demanded an apology following claims that top brass spoke out on war budgets "because they are Tories".

Banging his papers on the dispatch box, the Tory chief thundered: "Oh, it's because they are Tories, is it?

"That is what this tribalist, divisive Government thinks of people who serve our country. It is a disgraceful slur."

He told Gordon Brown: "You should disassociate yourself completely from what your colleagues have said."

But the PM refused, saying: "We do not send our troops into battle without the commanders assuring us that they are properly equipped."

Iraq: Grill PM again

SIXTY-ONE per cent of Brits say the PM and Forces chiefs should give new evidence to the Iraq inquiry on troops funding.

In a YouGov poll for The Sun, 41% said Mr Brown "deliberately misled" the probe last week.

The clash follows criticism from Lords Guthrie and Boyce - a former general and admiral - over Mr Brown's "disingenuous" evidence on spending at the Iraq Inquiry last week.

Meanwhile, Mr Cameron listed military figures and civil servants who had also attacked the PM for defence spending shortages.

He said: "Why do you think all these people, dedicated to defence of this country, are wrong?"

The Tory boss also revealed 2001-2002 papers - released under freedom of information rules - showed then-Chancellor Mr Brown allocated "hundreds of millions" for the Afghan war rather than the £9.3billion it has cost so far.

The PM's claims of giving the military more cash every year were also rubbished as new figures showed the amount had not risen in real terms.

Shadow defence secretary Dr Liam Fox said the PM was caught out "yet again".

Last night Lord Guthrie - who sits with Lord Boyce as a neutral crossbencher in the Lords - blasted the "ignorant" jibes by Labour MPs.

The ex-chief of defence staff said: "I would attack the Conservatives equally if I felt they had underfunded."
