Brown Admits He LIED At Chilcot Inq. Empty Brown Admits He LIED At Chilcot Inq.

FORMER defence chiefs claimed victory last night after Gordon Brown beat a humiliating retreat over forces funding.

The PM admitted misleading the Iraq Inquiry and MPs by claiming cash for troops increased in real terms every year when he was Chancellor.

The chiefs accused him of being "economical with the truth".

They insisted frontline troops were left short of life-saving equipment because of Mr Brown's cuts.

Former Army boss General Sir Richard Dannatt said: "I am delighted that he is correcting what he said." Ex-Afghanistan commander Colonel Stuart Tootal said: "I hope he learns the lessons and now gets defence spending right."

Two weeks ago, Mr Brown twice told the Iraq Inquiry spending had gone up in real terms year-on-year. He repeated the claim in the Commons last week. He was forced to come clean after an independent watchdog found it went DOWN in real terms in 1997, 1999, 2004 and 2006.

Mr Brown made his admission at Prime Minister's Questions. He said: "Expenditure has risen in cash terms every year, but I do accept that in one or two years defence expenditure did not rise in real terms."

But he stopped short of apologising to former defence chiefs Lord Guthrie and Admiral Lord Boyce for dubbing them "wrong" for faulting him.

Last night Lord Guthrie said he was "very pleased" the truth was out.

The PM's climbdown sparked fresh calls for him to be recalled to the inquiry. He has written to its head Sir John Chilcot to "explain" his error. An inquiry spokesman said the letter would appear on its website.

There is no error here! What Gordon Brown did was LIE to the entire nation. He has spat on the graves of every dead soldier by doing so.

Are we to believe that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was not in proper possession of ALL the facts before the Chilcot Inquiry?

It is not enough for Brown to apologise. This lie makes a mockery of the entire inquiry. How can any sane person ever trust a word that comes out of this man's mouth?

The inquiry has no legal basis so it is difficult to see what Brown could be charged with for this lie. However, I do not think he should be allowed to get away with it.

This Labour cabinet has done nothing but treat the electorate with contempt. If its no fiddling the expenses its lying to the grieving relatives of dead soldiers.

He makes me sick and it is time people demanded his removal from office.

I think everyone knew before the enquiry what a filthy liar Brown is, of course he knew the facts before we went in front of the panel. Blair and Brown will go down in history as the two men who ruined Britain. The they should be strung up from the nearest tree. Brown disgusts and repulses me!
