1. Take a reality check
Winning the lottery might get you lots of nice things but it isn't going to bring you happiness (studies say a multimillionaire is as likely to be as dissatisfied with their lot as anyone else). Neither is the love of your life or your dream job. Obviously, they all help - for as long as they last. Truth is, true long-term happiness is a joyous jigsaw, the pieces of which we find and make our whole life long.

2. Cherish friends and family
Lots of studies clearly show that people who invest time and energy in their important relationships have higher happiness levels and lower death rates. Paying loving attention to best friends and family is essential to our wellbeing; it allows us to feel part of something special, and care for and support one another.

3. Show affection
The same chemical is produced in us when we hug, pet an animal and fall in love. This natural wonderdrug is called oxytocin, also called 'the love hormone'. The latest scientific studies reveal that it makes us more trusting and generous, reverses the effects of a poor diet, and eats up free radicals - a major cause of disease and ageing. So - hug lots and look younger!

4. Be kind often
We know it feels good to be kind and be shown kindness. What science has only just revealed is that it causes chemical and structural changes in the brain and body that make us healthier and happier.

Pick a day and do three acts of kindness on that day every week - listen to a friend, smile at a stranger - and watch the changes this brings. Self-esteem rises when you're doing good. You begin to realise 'I'm a better person that I thought I was.' For the best results, chop and change your kind deeds.

5. Have a laugh
Hands up who's so busy earning money, doing chores and sticking to commitments that they forget to enjoy themselves? Well, make a new commitment - to having fun and laughing. Make time for the things you love doing the most. No-one died regretting they didn't answer more emails. Oh, and stop taking yourself so seriously.
6. Look after yourself
Life can only be so much fun if you're too ill to enjoy it. "To be happy you must never compromise your health" says Robert Holden, creator of most famously-tested course on happiness Be Happy LINK www.happiness.co.uk. That means eating a healthy diet, regular exercise and plenty of sleep. Even better, add meditation to the list.

7. Be grateful
Every day, write down at least three things you're thankful for or made you smile. It's amazing how the more you focus on what's good in your life, the more good stuff seems to happen. Try it and see.
In his brilliant book How Kindness is Good For You (Hay House), David Hamilton refers to a University of California study asked a set of participants to write down five things that happened in the week they were grateful for ('wonderful parents' was one). Another group was asked to list five hassles.

At the end, those in the gratitude group were a full 25 per cent happier than the others. They were also more optimistic, exercised more and had fewer physical symptoms of illness.

8. Spend time in nature
Something in us relaxes when we spend time outdoors, in the fresh air, enjoying all that space and sense of freedom. Humans weren't designed to spend day after day in brick boxes, staring at screens, behaving like machines. Our essential nature is wild; we evolved from animals.

9. Slow down and learn to relax
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" said Beatles star John Lennon.
But it doesn't have to be that way. Take it easy now and again. The world's not going to end if you turn up late for work because you spent an extra five minutes tacking stock of things on a park bench. What's the worst that can happen if you ditch another night out with your friends for a meditation class?

10. Forgive
Forgiveness - letting go of the past - is a major act of kindness towards yourself and the other person. Research shows it leads to big drops in anger, depression, pain, tiredness and pessimism.

RW, you are well within your rights to express your thought and oppinions, just as everyone else is. We base our oppinions on what we read, see or are told. Sometimes however, we get a distorted account of events, which can make our oppinions a little bias or off center from the truth of the matter. But I will agree to disagree, and hopefully with time you will see the real reasons behind a certain decitions that was made by admin..With the full backing from the moderation team, I might add..Take care RW.. Very Happy
