Rooney's Reaction - Justified or Disgrace?
Rooney's Reaction To England Fans
Was it justified? Was it a disgrace?
I can't help but feel a little sympathy for Wayne Rooney. Here we are, on football's greatest stage, and the England fans are the only fans to boo their own team...
Sure the performance was dire but lets be realistic here for a moment. Perhaps the reason England fans find themselves disappointed time and time again is because they simply expect too much from the national side?
England are a team that has won nothing since 1966. Even then they had to win the cup with a goal that has been proven didn't actually cross the line. Had that goal been disallowed who knows what might have happened?
Bearing this in mind it staggers me that every tournament the entire nation expects England to lift the trophy. On what basis? It certainly isn't historical. Then you have prats like Terry Venables making the national delusions of success even worse by warbling like a crazed banshee that he dares to dream. Well I say stop dreaming and time to bloody wake up Tel.
There is one game left and it is a must win game for England. I don't think the England fans are doing much to lift the national sides spirits by jeering them as they leave the pitch.
The press today are saying Rooney's reaction was a disgrace. I say the fans reaction was a disgrace. It was akin to a spoilt child crying because they didn't get what they wanted.
I think England fans need to simply enjoy the fact they are in South Africa at all and enjoy it for as long as it lasts. England ARE NOT going to win this tournament. Accept this fact and get behind your team for as long as they remain in it!

Can't agree with you there El!!
These players are paid colosal amounts of money for doing something most blokes would pay to do!........They pretend to be passionate and patriotic, yet are more interested in their Girlfriends and Bentleys than in playing football......FFS most don't even sing the National Anthem at the start........Do they even know the words??
Rooney was crap.....If we had lost and Rooney had showed a little spirit, I'd shake his hand and say 'Good try'!...........No-one 'expects' to lift the cup........But everyone 'expects' the players to give their best!!.....There are players in these finals who still have day jobs!
BTW........If the 66 goal had been disallowed, it still would have been 3-2!!
You haven't quite got the hang of being Enlish yet mate ! lol

Re: Rooney's Reaction To England Fans
What does being paid colossal amounts of money have to do with anything?
The best players in the world are from Brazil. They learn their trade in the favelas playing with oranges...
Club success does not equate to national success because every successful English club team has a core of foreign players in it.
What does being patriotic have to do with the ability to win a game? Would loving your country more make it easier to score? That makes no sense my friend...
I think the players DID give their best last night but their best simply wasn't good enough.
On a final note to 1966 the fourth goal was scored with the last kick of the game. Would England have scored that fourth goal if the score was 2-2 in those dying seconds and Germany still had something to play for? Who knows...;-)

Who knows indeed?
Money and patriotism does matter El......
The 66 winers probably earned a grand a week between them..........Even by todays comparison, the wage of a Plumber!
They were proud of what they were doing!...........Rooney has no right to react in any way......

Re: Rooney's Reaction To England Fans
I cannot agree with Rooneys reaction, he is supposed to be a professional footballer playing for England, he played complete rubbish as did the rest of the team and Manager. Thousands of people paid a lot of money to watch that load of rubbish play and they had every right to display displeasure Rooney should be man enough to accept it, he seems to think we should regard him as a god no matter what, time he grew up and stopped being a pre-Madonna, the rest of the squad didn't react like a 2 year old.

Re: Rooney's Reaction To England Fans
I have to agree with Winston and Colin, I was disgusted with the England Team, I have seen local school kids play better football. Rooney is nothing more than a chav in a Mansion, he was wrong to react they way he did. One fan who was on TV said he paid £7,000 to be at the world cup, he was having a wonderful time in South Africa, but he came to watch some good football and wanted England to do well. I think England made total arses of themselves.
They are overpaid Prima Donnas who think people should bow and scrape. Maybe they should have been made to slep in a shack, eat mealie pap and run 30kms to work. Instaed, they have had 7 star kluxury all the way, they behave like spoiled kids.
