A Sudanese man who married a goat (a what?) was in mourning today after his wife died when she swallowed a plastic bag.
Charles Tombe shot to fame last year when he tied the knot with Rose.
A court ordered him to marry the beast "to save her honour" after he was caught making amorous advances toward the mother-of-one in the middle of the night.
Mr Tombe and Rose are believed to have lived happily ever after (I can’t imagine how) until her life was cruelly cut short.
The story, which became one of the world's best read tales, began in Juba, southern Sudan, in February last year when the BBC reported that the then owner of the goat, Mr Alifi, was awoken in the night by a strange noise.
Walking out of his traditional hut, he was confronted by the sight of Mr Tombe and Rose in a passionate embrace.
The Times reported that Mr Alifi said: 'When I asked him "What are you doing there?" he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up."
When Mr Tombe was brought before a council of elders he claimed he was drunk when Rose caught his eye. (seriously?? He must have been reaaaalllllllyyyy drunk)
He was ordered to pay Mr Alifi a "dowry" of 15,000 Sudanese dinars - about £25 - since he was considered to have used the goat "as his wife."
In the same way a man is expected to marry a woman if he has sex with her in southern Sudan, Mr Tombe was deemed to have married Rose.
However, despite a happy marriage (I wonder if they kept doing it), money was tight and Rose died after swallowing a plastic bag as she scavenged for food on the streets of Juba. (poor Rose)
She is said to have left a male kid - not a boy (thank God!). It is not yet known whether she will be cremated or used in a local speciality of goat curry.

Good morning..
A man who started losing his hair in his early twenties has started having his bald scalp painted rather than simply shave his head or wear a wig.
Philip Levine came up with the idea when he first noticed his hair was receding. He says he wanted to try something different because he didn't want to look like all other blokes with a shaved head.
And the 28-year-old doesn't, he thinks of designs and gets a professional body painter to realise them on his head - they regularly take over two hours to complete.
He says he's had things ranging from a smily face to giant wave on his noggin -- though he's not had a short back and sides painted on yet. Speaking of the designs Philip, from London, said: "I wanted to express some part of my personality no one could see.
"I thought why not use my head as a canvas, paint and attached things to my head in the border of where my hair would be.
"Unlike a wig where you are hiding what maybe seen as a deformity what I do is tell people feel special, original and embrace what could be looked at as a weakness and turn it into a strength."
Philip says the designs by painter Kat Sinclair normally wow people but that some have more of an impact then others - such as when he had 1,000 Swarovski crystals individually glued on.
"Many people see it as an original art form and I aim to carry on inspiring and wowing people for years to come."
He is now planning a art exhibition showing off over 100 of his head designs including visual art films and busts of his head designs.

A lesson for us all I think..
•Be OK with making mistakes. Examine why admitting to earlier mistakes distresses you. Nobody is immune to errors, so you shouldn’t make a big deal out of it — just make sure you learn from them!..
•Listen to people who were not involved in the earlier decisions. Find people who are not emotionally committed to past decisions and ask their opinion.
•Focus on your goals. We make decisions in order to reach goals. Don’t become attached to the particular series of steps you took towards that goal; always consider how you can better fulfill that goal from now on....Errr....onwards and upwards then..

A man who has always fasinated me..
Howard Hughes was born in Texas in 1905. Raised by an overly obsessive mother who forced him to endure strange cleanliness rituals, douse himself with mineral oil daily, and forced him to stay away from other 'germ ridden' children, Howard had no other alternative than to be different. His mother died when he was 16 and his father perished 2 years later. The youth took over his father's company, the Hughes Tool Company and was immediately recognized for his brilliant business skills.
His Life
Bored with business, Howard became a movie producer and created such classics as Scarface, Hell's Angels, and The Outlaw. He turned his favorite hobby, flying airplanes into a lucrative business too forming the Hughes Aircraft Company. He quickly became the world's richest man.
But as Howard's riches grew, so did his eccentricities. After suffering several mental breakdowns in the 1950's, Howard began conducting all business activities through intermediaries, particularly Mormons who he considered the only people clean enough to be allowed in his presence.
His Eccentricities
His fear of people and the world around him lured him into purchasing his own hotel so he could remain isolated. Most of his time was spent watching old movies on a local TV station. When the station began airing alternative programming during the wee morning hours, Howard bought the TV stations so he could direct the programming.
His personal entourage was forced to wear white cotton gloves and masks and required to perform bizarre cleansing procedures every time they left and entered his room. He eventually eschewed clothing for sanitary reasons and began living the remaining years of his life naked. Lights were kept off to avoid contamination. Food consumption became scarce due to his fear of being poisoned. To ease the remaining pains of life, Howard turned to drugs.
His Death
At the end of his life, the 6'4" Hughes weighed a meager 90 pounds when he died at the age of 70 years old...

Who was Hetty Green?
In 1864, Hetty Green, the 'Witch of Wall Street' inherited 1 million dollars from her father when she was 30 years old. Hetty, who could read the financial pages when she was 6 years old, didn't hesitate to exercise her aggressive style with her newfound riches. She increased here fortune by investing in Civil War Bonds when everyone else shunned them. She played the market with a skill unequaled by today's modern moneymakers. Hetty Green gained her nickname, the Witch of Wall Street from her fellow investors who often chuckled when Hetty arrived in her usual garb - a long, black 'dress' and solid black petticoat. Hetty's thriftiness caused her to rarely wash the dress, except occasionally the hem that drug the ground.
Her Life
While the other investment bankers worked in large, lavish offices, Hetty worked on a lone floor of a bank, and only because the bank graciously offered her free space. For lunch, she drug a ham sandwich out of her grubby coat pocket.
She married only to prevent her relatives from inheriting her riches. Once, when her son suffered a bad sledding accident, Hetty tried to have him admitted in a charity ward. When she was recognized, she stormed away vowing to treat the wounds herself. The wounds eventually turned gangrenous and her son, Ned, had to have his leg amputated...
Her Death
Hetty finally died in 1916 of a stroke suffered while engaged in a heated argument with her maid over the price of milk. She left over 100 million dollars to her two children...

Superman Lives...
In 1999, a former professional sprinter gave birth to a bouncing baby boy in Berlin, Germany. For the past 4 years the baby boy has had a somewhat normal life - that is until researchers found out about him.
Researchers are not releasing much information and the family wishes to remain private. What they will say is that the boy is able to hold weights weighing nearly 10 pounds out to his side with his arms completely extended. Most adults have trouble doing this with half that weight. At 4 years old, the boy is extremely muscular displaying bulging calves and biceps. His muscle mass is twice that of normal 4 year old children and his fat content one half as much. He is as near a perfect specimen of man as you can possibly get.
Why he is so strong??
Researchers have explained that the superhuman strength is the result of a mutated gene that is intended to restrict the production of myostatin. Myostatin, in the human body, limits the growth of muscles. In rare cases, one copy may be mutated producing extremely powerfully built people. The boys mother, father, uncle, and 3 other close relatives all have mutated copies and are know to be very muscular and extremely strong. In the boys case, it is even stranger - he has both copies of the DNA segment mutated, something scientists have never seen before. The result - a human that may grow to enormous proportions with the ability to lift extreme amounts of weight and possibly run faster than any human to date.
Researchers had already known that myostatin restricts muscle growth and knew that drugs limiting its production would produce super mice. Such super mice had been created in early 1997. Researchers are happy to report that the boy is perfectly healthy right now but fear that he may suffer heart or other ailments as he grows older...Wow

No, these aren’t some abstract paintings or some generative art, but photos from the surface of Mars. The NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has been orbiting Mars since 2006 at a height approximately 300 km. The MRO has a very good camera on board: the HiRISE, the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera, which has a resolution of a few inches per pixel.
A lot of things are different in Japan. On Valentine’s Day, the girls give the boys chocolates. One month later, on White Day, the boys give the girls something back. Louis Vuitton has these branded roses for just € 25 a piece …how lovely..

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them, "Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down."
It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's"
Many years ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired by this practice.

There comes a time in life when you have to let go of all the pointless drama and the people who create it & surround yourself with people who make you laugh so hard that you forget the bad & focus solely on the good. I had a strange thought this morning!
We often talk of contributions that folk make to the UK, and what makes our country good.
I think the medal should go to the Birds!!……Not the female kind, the feathered kind!
It doesn’t matter that the economy is bad, it doesn’t matter that we are fighting the Taliban in Afganistan, doesn’t matter that Dancing on Ice is on later, or who will be the next Prime Minister!!
There will always be a dawn chorus……………
We bicker and fight, get annoyed, fall out with one another, but the Blackbird will still search for worms in the garden, the Goldfinch will still flit about singing his familiar song. The Robin will still sit on the handle of the garden Fork, the pigeon will still act stupid and get run over, the Swallow will still turn up in spring, the Fieldfare in autumn. The Starling will still play about, copying ringtones, and the Dunnock will still hop in and out of the hedge looking for titbits……….
So while we are all making a mess of things……..The birds remain a constant.
Stop for a minute and listen………England sounds the same as it did a hundred years ago!
